Older work

These are designs that I was working on for a Faber & Faber brief, I had to design covers for a set of books, I enjoyed working with them. They looked alot beter on glossy stock.

Recent Work

Havent added any new work for a while, I sort of put this blog to the back of my mind. I hope you can see some of my developing within my work.
This is some work that i am working on at the moment, i am looking into conveying silence. I am very interested in how an image holds power.
I must say working with this image of Myra Hindley has made me silent with different emotions.

Future Shock- Book Front Cover, Set Design

This brief had several different sets of books to design. I chose the future shock set due to style in which I had planned to design these covers. I worked through research for the very prestigious books and began designing the covers using a collage method, working on large scale and scanning certain sections of my collages to make the designs more visualy interesting.

Each design had to fit next to the other three designs. I wanted to have similarities but overall seem quite different as each book is. I wanted the buyer to distinguish the difference between 1984 and Fahrenheit 451.

This was a new and better way of working for me and I am loking forward to using this method time and time again. I feel the more I use this method the more my work could develop.

Interpreting the word Belief- Douple page spreads

These Four designs are my response to a very open brief that I recieved at university. Each design had to have a certain amount of relative words. I chose to look at the belief that the world had to stand against the nazi regime.

I have been interested in photography and history fom that era for quite a while. I think the black and white photography from this era was so iconic

I enjoyed working with this media because of my intrest in the topic but also beause of the openess of the brief.

I had to have four double page spreads and it had to use either a single, 10, 50 or 500 words. I had to use helvetica or a different form of helvetica for my type and lastly they had to fit together well in a series.

My favourite design is the one that uses 500 words, I think the mirror layout works well and makes a statement without the well placed type.
